Big size ferrite magnet requirement booming
The requirement of big size ferrite magnet booming since March.
The price of rare earth magnet raw materials rose sharply in early 2021, and by March it had doubled from the same period last year. As a result, the demand for relatively cheap ferrite magnets has soared. Users and manufacturers choose low-cost large-volume ferrite to replace rare-earth magnets, and achieve the same magnetic force by increasing the volume of the magnet.
The large-size ferrite block produced by Dailymag has excellent performance and excellent precision, and has been sought after by a large number of users. Orders have soared by 500%, and production is in short supply. Orders have been scheduled to August.
At the same time, the cost of ferrite materials has increased a lot with the price increase of steel materials, and the production cost is facing huge pressure. I hope the market can calm down in the later period.
The production of large ferrite magnet block is a ferrite powder metallurgy process.
The ferrite material is ground into fine powder, pressed, and finally sintered into a big shape cube. There are two kinds of subsequent processing procedures, one is molding and the other is wire cutting. Molding is a custom-made size. The molding process is recommended for large-quantity sizes. The cost of a single magnet is 60% of the wire cutting. The advantage of wire cutting is that it is flexible in size and can be produced in any size, but the cost of a single magnet is higher.
The difference between molding and wire cutting can be seen through the picture below. The edges of molding are rounded and the edges of wire cutting are sharp.
